Role of the Information Economy Directorate

Our core responsibility is creating online opportunity for South Australia. We promote and support information economy developments within government, business, industry and community sectors. We ensure that strategic policy is developed in these sectors for economic and social benefit to the State.

Role and Function

  • PDA deviceProvide high level strategic policy advice to the Minister and Government on the Information Economy and the ICT sector.
  • Provide advisory, secretariat and consultative support to advisory bodies concerned with various aspects of the Information Economy agenda, such as the Minister's Information Economy Advisory Board.
  • Develop and maintain effective relations with key stakeholder groups in the public, private, research and community sectors.
  • Undertake or facilitate projects and programs that:
    • Raise awareness and understanding of the Information Economy among specific target groups;
    • Contribute to greater understanding of the Information Economy and its effects; or
    • Facilitate bids for significant Commonwealth grants.
