Operational Projects

Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Port Augusta

The Port Lincoln Broadband project involved the establishment of optical fibre and wireless point-to-multi-point services in Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Port Augusta. It has also deployed a new "backhaul" connection to Adelaide by constructing new microwave point-to-point links between Port Lincoln and Port Augusta and then interconnecting with the national inter-capital fibre route. The project will provide a direct benefit to the local communities by aggregating South Australian Government telecommunications usage in the townships. The DTEI-led project was completed in February 2007 and services are being connected. DTEI and ETSA Utilities were awarded the SA Engineering Excellence Award for the infrastructure category for the project. The project is now nominated for the National Engineering Excellence Awards, Infrastructure Category.
