What's new

Adelaide Metro Broadband Blackspots Project

Homes and businesses in metropolitan Adelaide that are located in broadband "blackspots" can now look foward to relief with the announcement of a significant new broadband initiative. On 14 August 2009, the SA Minister for Science and Information Economy, Hon Michael O'Brien and the Federal Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Hon. the Senator Stephen Conroy announced a project to deliver broadband solutions to broadband blackspots premises in metropolitan Adelaide. The South Australian Government will provide up to $3 million from the Broadband Development Fund to accelerate the deployment of the WiMAX network, which will be delivered by Adelaide-based Internet Service Provider Adam Internet.

The project will take 15 months to complete and will provide new WiMAX services to blackspots as well as other areas across metropolitan Adelaide. Connection subsidies are available to those in blackspots premises through the Australian Broadband Guarantee.

Further details will be provided as the project proceeds and those interested can register at broadbandblackspots.com.au.
